Saw District 9 today, finally! :D:D I thought it was pretty damn awesome, although teasing out the plotpoints of why the aliens were there in the first place, what the problem with their ship was, why the whole situation got started in the first place proved to be a bit impenetrable afterward.

But man, this was another one of those movies where I didn't really give a crap about the main character, and all my sympathy and worry was caught up with repressed non-human/non-majority/privileged perspective. At multiple points, you know what I'm talking about people who have seen it, I was about to throw my hands up in disgust and give up when it looked like the aliens were out of hope, and District 9 Spoilers )

Soooo, True Blood 2x09 last night...I still don't know if I can talk about it coherently. Well, least-emotional bits first, I guess. The Maryann storyline is still BORING AS HELL and still just preparation, preparation, preparation for a big showdown. Blegh. So dead. Hoyt, his mother, and Jessica were pretty special. I'm glad that Hoyt is finally standing up to his mother, that "hate" speech was pretty awesome XD.

OK, I'm running out of energy to emote about this, have spent too much already. Final thought: since Godric could say "As your maker, I command you," I wonder if that means he never "released" Eric (though I couldn't imagine Eric ever asking him to like Bill did Lorena, haha,) or if he did and Eric just always continued to follow his commands religiously anyway out of love and faith?

Also, my new most-fascinating show: The Colony, on The Discovery Channel!

What would you do in the wake of a global catastrophe? How would you find food? Water? Shelter?

The Colony is a controlled experiment to see exactly what it would take to survive and rebuild under these circumstances. For 10 weeks, a group of 10 volunteers, whose backgrounds and expertise represent a cross-section of modern society, are isolated in an urban environment outside Los Angeles and tasked with creating a livable society.

With no electricity from the grid, no running water and no communication with the outside world, all the volunteers have to work with are their skills and whatever tools and supplies they can scavenge from their surroundings.

Experts from the fields of homeland security, engineering and psychology have helped design the world of The Colony to reflect elements from both real-life disasters and models of what the future could look like after a global viral outbreak.
Over the course of the 10-week experiment, the Colonists must work together to build the necessities of survival, such as a water-filtration system, a battery bank that powered their electricity, a solar cooker, a shower system and a greenhouse – and even some niceties (a coffee maker!).

Extremely fun and interesting watch! Highly recommended!

Just came back from yet another night out of Thai food after watching my brother and cousin play/lose their mixed doubles match (tennis, XD). They could have won, but they didn't play too badly, and it was actually pretty fun to watch, :). Makes me really kind of want to start playing tournaments myself, even though I'm disastrously rusty and would have to play NTRP, as I'm about a 4.0 or 4.5.

Definitely need to join the Tennis Club this year just to find people to hit with; three years now and their practices are somehow always scheduled at the wrong time! >:( Hopefully with fewer classes this year it won't be a problem, I always miss playing when I go for long periods without. It's totally in my blood. One of my friends at school always bugs me to play, but she's a pretty rank beginner and it always just turns into me kind of giving her a lesson, which is not so much fun for me, >_>.

And oh man, True Blood spoilers are really scaring me right now. :(((( Come on, episode, get online!
