I reacted, let us say, Not Well to the Zoro section of OP 597, and it's only been through much ranting to whiteadelphi and soul-searching and awesome conversation that I've been mostly reconciled to it. Not entirely! There remain issues, but at least I'm not making lineface every time I think about it, now. Instead of reiterating, I'm just going to link to the post WA made that contains basically our whole IM conversation on the topic.

To clarify before we even start, my problem wasn't at all to do with the plain fact that Zoro asked Mihawk to train him and humbled himself terribly in the process. In fact, that hardly comes up in our massive combined tl;dr AIM conversation, and I'm surprised that a lot of people seem to have issues with it. Not like he hasn't shown that he'll sacrifice his dream for Luffy at this point, after all. And yeah, it's painful and shaming and he had to throw away his pride to do it, and he doesn't care, he'll get on his hands and knees and press his forehead to the floor and hold there, bleeding all over Mihawk's carpet until the man agrees to train him, and then look so thrilled and happy when he finally does (>.> socute). I thought that was awesome, actually, it hammers in just how far he'll go—he won't just die to protect Luffy and his dream and the rest of his crew, he'll humiliate himself in front of his ultimate rival and live and get stronger in order to better support him, too.

...Which is the thought which sparks my ACTUAL problem. >_____> So here are the links.

Thiiis was soooo much fuuuuun. XDDDD Sorry for inflicting it on all of you~

This is just—a bit of something silly and experimental I've been doing off-and-on for fun. XD Playing around on my own with Zoro's voice and point of view, coming up with silly mini-adventures in the One Piece world whenever the heck something comes to me, etc. I've got an idea for a fic swirling around that will eventually—that is, could eventually—incorporate a lot of what I've been scribbling so far, but we'll see. :)a

It was raining while sunny again today. I would've been more appreciative of the effect if I'd remembered to bring my umbrella with me, but, y'know. Sunshine. The thought, it did not occur.

So. I've said a few times in the past that I didn't know if I'd keep reading OP after Ace's death. And I still haven't read that chapter, nor do I ever anticipate doing so. Thinking about Ace being dead still makes me feel sick to my stomach and my heart hurt, so. I just avoid thinking about it.

That said, I've found myself continuing to read. Because as much as I still love Ace, there are other people in One Piece whose fates I'm pretty damn invested in as well. People who we haven't seen in a while, and whom I yearn to see again, as well as people who are on the battlefield right now, fighting for their lives. Not to mention the mysteries whose answers are being dangled before us.

So. Onto this week's chapter.

I walked home from class in the rain and cold today. Most of the sky—certainly the part dripping sullenly on me—was ash gray, with charcoal whorls that seemed inclined to just sit in place; heavy, unmoving, implacable. But off to the west, the clouds abruptly lightened and faded in trailing white tails, leaving much of the sky visible from beneath my black umbrella a pure, arching blue.

It was beautiful. :)

Of course, my enchantment with it might have had something to do with the fact that I'd not seen blue sky in three or four days, which is downright traumatic for a born and bred southern Californian. Especially when one is still in California, albeit the northern half.

...Now, in return for tolerating my rambling, have a little Ace drabble. :D
